Sending out follow-up emails doesn’t mean you are a pest; instead, it may help you to land your dream job if done correctly. Here are the reasons why:

1. It shows professional manners

A simple tailored thank-you email after an interview shows your basic courtesy and appreciation to the interviewer. It also a good way to nudge your interviewer to assess your result.

2. It gives you peace of mind

You probably start to feel impatient because the timeframe has passed and you haven’t heard from them. There could be other priorities or even a chance that the interviewer forgot to tell you. Once you respectfully contact them and know the answer, you will have clarity about the outcome and can move forward.

3. You have another chance to impart your information

Sometimes you walk out of an interview and realize that you were too nervous that you forgot to ask some important things. You can include this in your thank-you note and inform the recruiter some additional information. It may have a great impact on the result of your interview

4. It displays your interest

Another reason why you should follow up after your interview is to express your interest and enthusiasm in the position. A follow-up email is a polite way to let your recruiter know you are still open to any offers of the company and push the process forward.

5. It keeps the conversation open

Sending a follow-up email is a great way to keep the communication open and a chance to get an update from your interview. Remember that your follow up email should be short and kept to the point. Check out our other blog post for tips to follow up after your interview.
