Key focus points for this role are:
- Work with the Head of Data Acquisition and Community Engagement in Oceania to
- Leads negotiations and data acquisition engagements of mid to high complexity including related internal process/product activities in cooperation with key stakeholders; e.g. product marketing/management, legal, contracting, purchasing, supplier management and quality assurance/source evaluation processes
- Applies strategic B2B engagement practices and manages negotiations to ensure full benefits are realized and sustained
- Continuously manages priorities effectively, focusing on efficient work results (business value)
- Ensures commitments are met by monitoring, assessing, and resolving variances in budget, timing or quality
- Monitors and keeps up to date with related Location-based Data supplier-specific business activities as well as the extended category industry by building and maintaining thorough understanding of the overall market/landscape (e.g. by conducting ongoing research to understand the availability and effort/cost/engagement models to acquire)
- Presents/updates all pertinent supplier and/or industry issues (e.g. shifts in negotiating power of suppliers, relevant governmental initiatives) to stakeholders and immediate management and proposes alternative scenarios as they apply to existing strategies
- Meets regularly with stakeholders to present current and planned engagement strategies to maintain alignment with the business objectives
- Creates, renegotiates, renews, and discontinues agreements in cooperation with internal stakeholders as appropriate
- Proactively monitors business partners/suppliers’ competencies and competitive positioning (benchmarking)
- Estimates risks and applies risk minimizing techniques
- Reviews and recommends best in class suppliers for bid processes under supervision of the Sub-Regional Head of Data Acquisition & Community and with support of Product Management
- Develops negotiation strategies that deliver to business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with business partners/suppliers
- Ensures effective communication materials and channels are in place to maximize the delivery and implementation of any business engagement activities in cooperation with Product Marketing / Management and across sub-regions
- Transfers expertise and shares best practices (including communication materials) across the teams globally to help build and/or expand our knowledge base and expertise
Qualifications:
- 8+ years proven relevant working experience (business development, data sourcing, geospatial products, IT)
- BSc + additional relevant certifications in Business Administration, Economics or Supply Chain Management
- Excellent communication (oral and written), presentation, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Convincing and persuasive door opener attitude
- Experience with B2B relationship management and ability to build, sustain and leverage effective networking relationships
- Understanding of market dynamics and sound business judgement
- Knowledge and/or understanding of Maps and Location-Based services
- Self-starter with ability to operate independently in support of the larger team's goals
- Proficient organization, planning and project management skills
- Experience with being part of a virtual working team is a plus
- Good analytical abilities and financial skills to assess the performance of business partners/suppliers against criteria such as quality, cost, reliability, ability to innovate and financial stability
- Results-oriented and comfortable with figures and in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data
- Solid judgement with ability to make good decisions
