CEO Corner: "Stop and Review"

With Christmas fast approaching, this signifies the end of another year. I find that it's always quite important to do a "Stop and Review" process, otherwise each year tends to blur into the next.

I ask myself key questions to gauge whether the year lived up to my expectations:

Did the time fly by? Or did it just crawl along?

The three essential questions which I ask myself are:

  1. What worked?
  2. What did not work?
  3. What can I or am I going to do differently?

I also do this on a monthly basis with myself and my team, and I find it can be a very fruitful exercise. It is a great way to step outside and take a look at your goals, achievements, strengths and weaknesses. You can then use this information to improve yourself at both a personal and professional level.

But in doing this, it's important not to get bogged down in your mistakes or weaknesses. Focus on the positives and acknowledge your own achievements. I personally think it's essential to reward yourself, almost giving yourself a pat on the back for what you have achieved throughout the year
