EBR staff member Clare has recently gone away to work with charity organisation the Catherine McAuley House in Peru. The Catherine McAuley House is a women's centre run by three Australian Sisters of Mercy in Lima, Peru. The area in which it operates is a 'shanty town' without modern amenities like running water, basic health care or education. For thirty years, the centre has worked to empower women through provision of skills-based education, English classes, cheap healthcare and classes on nutrition and sanitation. Clare will be away for a period of almost 4 months, to help this worthy cause. To support Clare in her endeavours EBR have made a donation to the organisation which will help provide critical health supplies to the women.

In the month of August, EBR staff member Jeanne celebrated her Birthday. Jeanne generously requested that any money which was to be put forward for a present be instead donated to a charity of her choosing. The chosen charity is Gawad Kalinga, a fundraising organisation which aims to build houses and fund the education of poor children in the Philippines. As the result, staff members have been generously contributing to Jeanne's Birthday fund. Additionally, EBR hosted an in-house spelling bee on Thursday August 19th raising money for this organisation.

If you have ideas on what charities EBR can donate to, or how we can raise money and have fun at the same time, we would love to hear from you. Please use the contact form found here
