We all know how daunting job hunting can be. You apply & apply and never hear back from companies.  I would like to share some tips with you that I believe will increase your chances of being chosen for a job!

  • Don't be afraid to pick up the phone
Simply sending your CV & Cover letter through is not enough. Persistence is key when it comes to job hunting. Do a search on the company and give them a quick call to follow up on your application. That way you can speak to someone about the process of your application & you do not have to wait around endlessly.

  • Keep a log of all companies you have applied too
There is nothing more unflattering than a candidate who does not know what  positions they have applied to & where. Make sure to keep a log of all the companies you have applied to in your quest for work. This can be as simple  as a word document stating where you have applied, what position it is for and  when you applied for it. This way you are prepared and ready in the event that the company calls you for more information.

  •  Keep you CV short & concise
Make sure your CV is summarised & is not too long. It is always best to keep  your CV short & concise with  a maximum of three pages. All the important information should be included and it should be easy to read which can include bullet points, clear headings and size 12 font.

  •  Write a Cover Letter
Some people believe that writing a cover letter is not necessary for a job application, however it is an advantage! Personalising each job application you send through is an advantage. Cover letters give you the opportunity to express why you are suitable for the job and what you can bring to the table. Take that extra 10 minutes and write a one page cover letter, it will help you  stand out from the other applicants.

  • Don't Give Up!
Finding a job is a long process and is very time consuming however it is essential that you don't give up on your quest! Somewhere out there your  dream job is waiting, you just need to keep looking!
