Does it ever feel like you send your CV to recruiters by the dozen, with the hope of getting a response, but nothing ever happens?

What’s the problem?

You need to tailor your CV for each job application.

Your CV is the only means to promoting your unique skills to prospecting employers and recruitment agencies. When your CV includes information regarding your work history that is irrelevant to the position you are applying for, recruiters will most likely not spend much time revising it.

To get through the mass of applications received recruiters scan through the details, noting skills, specific work experience and keywords relating to the job at hand.

Tips;

  • Talk directly to the recruiter in a language they understand - Apply this every time you submit your CV
  • Use specific words used in the advert - these words should appear in your tailored CV
  • Ensure you have the skills and experience required - read the job advert carefully
  • Gather as much information regarding the job - call the recruiters to do so
  • Modify your tailored CV title - incorporate a unique and customised title relevant to the position
  • Include your current career objective - relate it to the position your are applying for
