This month, I would like to share with you my top 5 tips, that I believe will make a positive difference during your interview.

  1. Come Prepared
Being prepared for an interview is incredibly important as your answers will be the monumental part of the interview process. In order to come prepared you must
understand three points, the history of the company, dynamic of the team, and your management style. This will illustrate your ability to plan beforehand and be prepared. Understand what you can contribute to the entities team and in addition, by creating an understanding for the interviewer on your management style you can give the interviewer an indication on the type of person you are.

  2. Dress Appropriately & Accordingly
While to some dressing appropriately is plain common sense to some often people make the mistake in coming to an interview over dressed or underdressed. First impressions count an it takes less than a minute for someone to base their impression of you based on your appearance. Having said that the visual part isn't the most important, but in order to leave a good impression you should find out what the office attire is of the company by asking the employees.

  3. Communication- Too Much & Too Little
Communication can be both good and bad. Too much communication will leave a bad impression on the interviewer, illustrating that you talk too much and if you talk to little it will illustrate your lack of being able to communicate and further demonstrate whether you would be able to work as part of a team or independently. When asked to answer a question, think about the question and answer it correctly. Try not to over analyse or go into too much detail with the answer, only do so if asked to elaborate on the question.

  4. Answering The Question Correctly
By answering the question correctly you will leave a lasting impression. To do so, you will need to first listen to the question by taking it in and processing it before you answer. Secondly it is important to always come prepared in order for you not to be put on the spot and going completely blank.

  5. Correct Body Language
Body Language can be interpreted in many ways. If you are standing in a "natural stance" which is your hands by your side with a straight posture it will convey an approachable and inviting invitation for the client. It is important to maintain eye contact and if that is not comfortable for you, practice it! It is important to do so as eye contact creates interest and attention between one another. Keep in mind the eye contact must remain natural. If you are the type of person who is very expressive with their hands, it is important to relax your hands, keep them on your lap and under control during the interview process. This will maintain the clients focus on you and will help you maintain your composure to answer questions correctly.
