Workplace fun: How can you have it?

Many managers might ask why workplaces should be fun. Well we ask, "why not?"

Research in the United States has shown that a fun workplace encourages staff to become more creative, more productive and better at communicating with clients and other staff. This research has also shown that encouraging humour and fun can result in a decrease in the amount of sick days staff members take!!

Fun in the workplace can range from having regular team lunches or trips to the pub, providing pies or pastry in team meetings, wearing silly clothes on events such as St Patrick Day, rewarding staff, holding contests and even sharing baby photos!

EBR have adopted this way of thinking about our workplace and would encourage you to do the same! For the month of April, we plan to use a "magic" word in phone conversations, and will be playing tenpin bowling once a week! For each pin that is knocked down, EBR will be donating to charity!

We plan each month to hold group activities and create fun goals to keep our staff members stimulated and productive. So take our advice: win down and relax every once in a while. Take time to have a cup of coffee or tea with your employees, or take them out to lunch or a movie. Pretty soon your employees will be boasting to their friends about how great working for your company is!
