- Focus on the key selection criteria without repeating the job description. The cardinal rule for all ads is to keep it short - no more than 5-8 bullet points covering: Key responsibilities, skills/experience needed to be successful in this role, personal attributes -the type of person you are seeking for
- Only put words in for one of two purposes: To filter out those you don’t want or attract those you do. You can amplify on the details of the job later when you have the right people
- The final ‘what’s in it for me?’ that gives the reason to apply and typically goes at the end of the ad
- Serif type style is more readable than sans serif

- Avoid jokes, cynicism and puns. Don’t exaggerate about the job - this is not a great starting point for a trust -based employer/employee relationship
